I love this. Especially the part about “building bridges to places with no one waiting.” Been there, felt that. It’s wild how easy it is to confuse movement with progress when you’re trying to be everywhere at once.
What helped me recently was doing a time audit. I tracked where my energy was going vs what brought results. Turns out, 80% of my output was feeding the content machine... and 80% of my growth came from one or two focused actions. Just like your Notes.
I'm working - writing - hoping and above all, praying - at the moment, most of my time and prayer is invested in my husband, who needs all the prayer he can get. He's having brain surgery next week. Pray please and God bless all of you with much success and blessings
"I just needed to invest my time in the right place."
I wish I could put this on a post-it note and staple it to my forehead so I could see it every day. I think a lot of us have this problem, and it's a result of too much input, competing priorities, and the seemingly literal need to be everywhere. It's not possible.
I'm putting most of my energy these days into Substack. I've only been here about a week but I love the quality of the people here and that the written word is honored and prioritized. Your articles have been a great resource for me, so thank you!
I learned this this week. I was posting social media like Ingram and Facebook realizing most people don’t give a damn on there. Substack notes and engaging were huge for me.
You just need to have a strong patience and delayed gratification mindset. It takes really time to get noticed no matter how good your content is. In general, people have less and less time or willingness to read vs. effortlessly watching videos. But I would take reading anytime!
I think the most important part of this is reminding yourself not to let substack become a place where you scroll, and scroll, and scroll...like an outsider looking in. Be active with these other writers who are passionate like you and appreciate their work either in their newsletters or notes!
I started writing on Substack to express myself freely, without needing to discern whether my words fit into my community’s expectations of me. But I found bliss in connecting with other souls who think the same as me! It’s so inspiring! 💛 I went to sleep, last night, thinking “I have to re-imagine what Substack can be for me” — and I woke to this post. The ideas are running in faster than integrate them. But your post has validated what my heart already knows! 🙏 Thank you! I needed this.
That statement is something I have been thinking about A LOT!! I want the same for my publication. I want it to be BIGGER than "Growth" and beyond tactics. I try and carry through a foundational message but I still have bigger aspirations too.

Thank you so much for writing this Landon.
You're welcome! Time audits are very important. I have done them a number of times over they years and it always helps me gain valuable perspective.

Again, as always. Thank you for article!
Seems to be a lot of us learning these lessons :) Glad you had the awareness to notice. Not everyone does!

That's a great point.
