23 Simple But Powerful Ways To Get The Most Out Of Your Content Creation
Creating content doesn’t need to be difficult.
Whether you’re actively posting on social media or just getting started, there are some simple but powerful things you can do to make the process easier. The benefits of creating content compound with time, this is why consistency is a key ingredient to long-term success. In my experience, the simpler (and less stressful) we can make the process… The better our chances to maintain consistency.
So, if you’re creating content to ultimately build your personal brand and/or generate clients, here are some ways you can maximize your efforts.
Repurpose Your Content.
You can 4x your reach by repurposing your content across additional social media platforms. If you’ve posted to Instagram, can you also post it to TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube/Shorts, and X/Twitter?
Repost Your Content.
When a post does well, make a note, set a reminder, or save it, so you can post it again in approx. 90 days. Only a small percentage of your audience will see your posts and reposting content is an excellent way to maximize your efforts.
Iterate On High Performing Content.
If a post or piece of content performs well, evaluate how you can iterate and expand upon it. Can you make additional edits of the same video? Can you repost it with a new hook? Can you create additional content on the same or similar topic?
Integrate Automation Tools For Efficiency.
Everything for social media can be done manually, and this is often a great place to start to build proficiency and learn the ropes. There are also software and tools for everything from ideas, to editing, to scheduling. For example, there are tools that will automatically repost high-performing tweets, or AI tools that will generate short-form clips from long-form videos. When you’re ready, there may be tools you can use to increase efficiency.
I share a list of zero-cost content creation tools here:

Analyze Your Analytics/Insights Monthly.
I recommend reviewing your analytics/insights every 30 days. This can be done within each social media app without any fancy software. Review what performed well and use these insights to guide your future content creation from the type of content you create to the style in which to post it - to improve over time.
Expand Short Form Content Into Long Form Content.
Explore if you can turn short videos or written posts into long-form videos or long-form articles, newsletters, blog posts, or even lead magnets and products.
Create Short Form Content From Long Form Content.
Explore if you can create short-form videos or written posts from your long-form videos or articles. This could be as simple as cutting out segments/portions of the longer content or spinning off short-form ideas or iterations.
Turn Written Posts Into Videos.
Every post you write can be used as a script for a video or podcast to create additional content for additional platforms.
Turn Videos Into Written Posts.
Every video or podcast can be transcribed and has the potential to be leveraged as a written post, blog, or newsletter.
Turn Impactful Clips Into Quotes.
Explore “impactful” quotes from videos, podcasts, or sections of a written post that can be turned into a visual “Quote Card” graphic. Just search “Canva quote templates” for copy/paste templates you can use and post to platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
Use Discovery Platforms.
Each social media platform has different and unique purposes. Some have more “discoverability” than others. In other words, they give you a better chance of being seen by people who don’t already follow you. Posting to your personal Facebook page will only be seen by your friends, but other platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter, may give you an opportunity to be discovered. There are benefits to all of them.
Include Periodic Call-To-Actions (CTAs).
When it’s fitting, periodically include a call to action within your posts. We want to avoid either end of the extreme: always including a CTA and never including a CTA. This can result in coming across like we’re always pitching, or “hoping” someone reaches out to us, respectively. There is a happy medium to be found in the middle.
Create Efficiency Through Repeatable Systems.
Over time as you find a rhythm with your content creation, how you create and maximize your content, document it into a repeatable system you can reference and improve with time.
Promote/Share Your Content.
Publishing a podcast or YouTube video is a great start but we can maximize their reach by sharing them on other platforms. This can be combined with many of the methods discussed here, clips, posts, etc. can be pulled from to push people back to the original/long-form version.
Answer Simple Specific Questions With Your Content.
A very simple and easy way to generate ideas for what to create content about is to utilize the questions you’re being asked by your audience, clients, customers, or community and answer them within your content.
Bonus: You can actually create video replies to comments on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram Reels.
Tap Into “Relevancy” With Your Content.
Another simple and easy way to generate ideas for content, one that has a high chance for engagement due to relevancy, is tapping into what is happening right now. This could be in the world, your community, or your niche. When ChatGPT was released in late 2022, I created a series of TikTok videos around the relevant/hot topic and some of that content went viral generating thousands of followers. All because of relevancy. (You can see the post here)
Find Simple Ways To Capture Ideas.
To avoid staring at a blank screen or hanging your head in your hands thinking of what to create, develop a simple way to capture ideas. You could use your notes app, Google Keep, sticky notes, voice notes, or software like Notion or Evernote. Find what’s easiest for you, and every time you have an idea, capture it.
Experiment With Different Styles Of Content.
There are many ways to create content for every platform. We’re no longer limited to posting images on Instagram or dancing on TikTok. Experiment with different styles to find what you enjoy, what’s easiest, and what performs well. For example, you could experiment with talking head videos, telling stories, using the green screen overlay feature, and using quote images, to name a few. The same piece of content can be delivered in many different ways.
Lean Into What You Enjoy The Most.
Once you’ve experimented and gathered data you can begin to lean into more of what is at the intersection of what you enjoy the most and what generates the most engagement.
Optimize Your Creation Environment.
Where we create, the time of day we create, and our mindset during our creation impact our consistency, efficiency, and creativity. Find ways to optimize your creation environment by adjusting the time of day, day of week, and location, and seeing what feels best for you.
Focus On Volume & Time.
Once we’ve developed a habit and routine of content creation it’s important to focus on volume and time. I don’t mean you need to post 87 times per day like Gary Vaynerchuk (unless you can and want to) but building a personal brand time and volume.
The more we create, the better our content becomes, the more we discover our voice, what works, and what we enjoy, among other things, all contributing to increased effectiveness of our content, more exposure to the market, and more opportunities for discoverability.
Establish A Clear “Why” Or “Purpose” Behind Your Creation.
Because building a personal brand takes time and isn’t an overnight endeavor, it can be important to have a “Why” and “Purpose” to ground you and to come back to during difficult times when you’re feeling impatience or wishing things were happening faster.
Learn The Features Of Your Favorite Platforms.
Learning the unique features of the platforms can make your life easier.
Did you know there is a “Community” section on YouTube that acts similar to a Facebook feed where you can post non-video content to your subscribers? Do you know the features available in Instagram Stories? Did you know that TikTok has “Stories” too? Did you know with a X/Twitter premium account you can post up to 22,000 character articles without the 280 character limit?
Platforms are always evolving with the goal of making it easier for creators to create, this is great for us.
In closing, consistently creating content is the foundation of building a personal brand.
A strong personal brand provides us with a lot of opportunities such as the ability to (easily) generate revenue and more importantly, the ability to impact and serve thousands of people who need our help.
If you’re reading this, and find it valuable, this is evidence of the power of content creation and its ability to serve.
I’m in this with you.
